McDonald's new Musical PlayPlace offers unique experience

December 2, 2009

McDonald's is adding music to its children's PlayPlace with a new music-themed interactive play area for children that combines play with the musical arts. The new Musical PlayPlace  incorporates musical cause and-effect activities, such as scales, notes and melodies.

The latest installation of the new Musical PlayPlace is at a McDonald's restaurant located in Oswego, N.Y., announced Playtime, an approved McDonald's PlayPlace supplier. The new Musical PlayPlace is part of a complete rebuild of the Oswego location and features a new 880-square-foot Playtime Musical PlayPlace.

McDonald's stores nationwide are rapidly adopting the new model in lieu of traditional tunnels and tubes. The new PlayPlace is a unique dining experience that builds business.

Steve Panos, who owns and operates the Oswego restaurant and seven other McDonald's in the greater Central New York area, is pleased with the new Musical PlayPlace.

"We're capitalizing on our new musical play area and increasing our dinner market segment," he said. "Opening week we were up 120 percent in sales over last year, and we're maintaining 75 to 80 percent increases week over week since."

Other owner-operators agree.

"Groups are coming from as far away as Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan that are two hours driving distance, solely because of the musical play area," said another McDonald's owner/operator, Terry Jaspers of West Chester, Ohio.
