McDonald's plans aggressive expansion, advertising blitz
June 14, 2009
BusinessWeek: Unlike a number of U.S. operators who are cutting capital expenditures, McDonald's plans to invest $2.1 billion in its restaurants in 2009, roughly the same amount as last year. With the McCafé buildout largely complete, the company will shift more money into new construction to add 650 locations this year — almost 200 more than in each of the previous two years.
The company also plans to rebuild one of every 20 restaurants this year and update its menu with new products like the $3.99 one-third-pound Angus burger.
