McDonald's plans big expansion in India

McDonald's plans to double its unit count in the India market within the next three years. This would put the total number of restaurants at 500.

According to the India Times, the expansion will be spearheaded by two franchisees – Hardcastle Restaurant in the west and south and Connaught Plaza Restaurants in the north and east.

These two franchisees currently operated 250 McDonald's in India. Many of the new restaurants will feature drive-thrus. Currently, there are only about 50 drive-thru units in the country.

McDonald's exits Bolivia

McDonald's has closed its last eight restaurants in Bolivia, making it the only Latin American market where there are no Golden Arches.

According to Scallywag & Vagabond, the last units were located in larger cities including La Paz and Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

The company opened its first unit in Bolivia 14 years ago, but decided to exit while undergoing a global restructuring plan. McDonald's will also close in six other countries with poor profit margins.
