January 8, 2008
TORONTO — McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Ltd. has been chosen as one of Canada's 50 best employers. The ranking, compiled by Hewitt Associates for The Globe and Mail's Report on Business Magazine and La Presse, is based entirely on employee opinions.
It is the sixth time McDonald's has received the distinction since 2000.
McDonald's Canada is the only quick-service restaurant and one of three foodservice companies included on this year's ranking of Canada's 50 best employers.
"We're extremely proud to be chosen among Canada's top employers, an honor which shines the spotlight on our diverse and highly motivated work force," said Louie Mele, president of McDonald's Restaurants of Canada Limited. "By making their ideas, values and concerns our top priority and responding to their need for a flexible and balanced work schedule, our people are empowered to be part of creating an engaging and rewarding work environment."
For a company to be eligible for the ranking, it must have at least 400 permanent employees in Canada and have operated there for at least three years.
