McDonald's revenue up 12 percent

OAK BROOK, Ill. — Global same-store sales at McDonald's Corp. increased 7.4 percent for the second quarter ended June 30, the company announced.
Revenues for the quarter were $6 billion, up 11 percent compared with revenues of $5.4 billion for the second quarter of 2006. Year-to-date, revenues increased 12 percent, up to $11.5 billion compared with revenue of $10.3 billon for the first six months of last year.
McDonald's ran a loss of $712 million for the second quarter, compared with a net income of $834.1 million for last year's second quarter.Results for the quarter included a one-time charge related to the sale of about 1,600 restaurants in Latin America and the Caribbean to a franchisee.
Net income for the year was $50.7 million compared with net income of $1.5 billion for the same period last year.
