McDonald's said it was able to close off access "quickly" after a data breach in South Korea and Taiwan that exposed some customer and employee information, according to Reuters.

The details were revealed after external consultants investigated the system following unauthorized activity on the company's network. In a statement, McDonald's relayed that "a small number of files were access, some of which contained personal data."

The company said it would contact regulators, as well as customers listed in the files, which it said had no payment information.

The breach was one of the latest of cyber-crimes levied on major worldwide product and service providers, and follows the JBS meatpacking ransomware attack. McDonald's said it would use the results of the current investigation to find ways to improve its cybersecurity.
