McDonald's sustainability efforts to focus on beef production
March 18, 2009
Fast Company: McDonald's head of corporate social responsibility Bob Langert has led the company in buying from sustainable fisheries and recycling 100 percent of its frying oil in the United Kingdom. His newest challenge is influencing sustainable beef production, which generates more greenhouse gases than any other food product. To do so, the company is in talks to partner with other large companies to form a coalition with enough clout to spark changes in farming and feedlot practices.
