Fast casual chains Starbucks and Jamba Juice have kicked off a breakfast war with their popular oatmeal offerings. Now, McDonald's may be joining the fray. In January, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported that the burger giant was testing oatmeal for breakfast at $1.99 in Scotts Valley, Calif. Starbucks' oatmeal comes with packets of dried fruit and nuts and is priced at $2.45, while Jamba Juice's is $2.95 and comes in different varieties like berry cherry pecan.
The Cleveland Leader reports that McDonald's is testingmaple brown sugar oatmealtopped with apples, raisins, and cranberries and is blended with cream in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore stores, where it has been "well-received by customers," according to a McDonald's spokesperson.
