McDonald's testing strawless lids

McDonald's is testing a strawless lid in some U.S. markets, according to a CNN report.

The goal is to make its cups and lids more environmentally friendly.

"These lids help optimize our packaging and eliminate the use of small plastics, just one example of the many solutions we're reviewing as part of our ongoing global commitment to reduce waste," a McDonald's spokesperson said in a statement.

The lids were first spotted in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Guests can still request a traditional straw.
