QSR superpower, McDonald's, said it is launching it's first nationwide loyalty program on July 8, although some cities are offering the so-called MyMcDonald's Rewards program now, according to a news posting on the company's website. The app-based rewards program will offer 100 points for every dollar spent on "qualifying purchases." Then those points can be used on future purchases
The rewards are based on a tier system, where the more points accrued, the higher the tier reached. In fact, the brand is providing an automatic 1,500 points after initial orders using MyMcDonald's Rewards, which means the diner's choice of Hash Browns, Vanilla Cone, McChicken or a Cheeseburger can be redeemed on their next order.
The brand said more rewards will be added as the weeks go by. That 1,500-automatic first order reward is available through Dec. 31 this year.
