McDonald's begins testing its CosMc's concept — a small-format, beverage-led concept — in Bolingbrook, Illinois, this month. Additional CosMc's units are planned in the coming months, according to a press release.
The fledgling brand has a beverage-heavy menu with a small lineup of food, including a handful of McDonald's favorites. The menu features specialty lemonades, teas, blended beverages and cold coffee.
The brand offers a seamless digital and drive thru experiences.
McDonald's plans to open 10 pilot locations by the end of next year.
"This is a $100 billion category growing faster than the rest of the (QSR segment) and with superior margins," Chris Kempczinski, McDonald's CEO, told investors during a call on Wednesday.
