McDonald's UK in effort to reduce methane emissions in cattle

January 11, 2010

British environmentalists have expressed concern regarding methane emissions from cattle as a significant pollutant in the United Kingdom in recent years. Now, McDonald's UK is helping farmers to cut those emissions with a three-year study, according toThe Observer.

The study will gather data from farms using a greenhouse gas calculator, and consultants will offer farmers advice on how to reduce emissions and increase efficiency. If it is successful, McDonald's may extend the effort to other European countries.

The initiative is part of the company's efforts to rebrand itself as a socially responsible corporation.
