McDonald's is calling the world's attention to its huge and ever-growing delivery business this month with a special "Global McDelivery Night In" on Thursday, an event the mammoth burger-based QSR is pulling off in partnership with Uber Eats, a news release said.

The Chicago-based chain said it now serves one million delivery customers daily, with a hefty 60% of those orders occurring in the evening. To celebrate what the brand said is a "growing culture of coziness and relaxation," McDonald's has also launched a clothing and accessories line called McDelivery Night In that includes loungewear, socks, slippers, games and other items.

"With McDelivery we're meeting our customers on their terms, and providing more ways to get their McDonald's favorites than ever before," President and CEO Steve Easterbrook, said in the release. "In fact, globally there are more than 10 McDelivery orders placed every second."

The third annual celebration of the brand's delivery business includes:

  • U.S.: McDelivery/Uber Eats customers on Wednesday will get Night In limited edition item, like socks and slippers, with a $10 minimum purchase beginning at 5 p.m. local time,
  • U.K. and Ireland: Free delivery for Uber Eats including Night In socks from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. locally.
  • Canada: Through a partnership with Canadian retailer, Drake General Store, all McDelivery Night In proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada.

McDelivery is expected to be a $4 billion business globally this year and uses everything from 3PD and other delivery models to take orders and deliver them. McDelivery launched in the U.S. in 2017 and by the end of 2019 will be available in 10,000 restaurants.
