McDonald's® offers first-ever happy meal® for adults

Restaurants in the tri-state area introduce new premium fiesta salads as part of their `go active™! happy meal' for adults featuring a stepometer, fitness book and bottled water.

PHILADELPHIA, May 3 /PRNewswire/-- Kicking off the first-ever Happy Meal for adults including a Stepometer, fitness book and bottled water, McDonald's Restaurants in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware will feature a new salad - the Premium Fiesta Salad. McDonald's "Go Active! Happy Meal" for adults will be available in participating restaurants for a limited time, beginning May 11 for a recommended price of $4.99. The new Premium Fiesta Salads will also be available in participating restaurants beginning May 11 for a recommended price of $3.99. The McDonald's "Go Active! Happy Meal" offer will feature: the choice of any McDonald's Premium Salad accompanied by a bottled water or a 16 oz. (or larger) fountain drink; a Stepometer, a small tool that tracks the number of steps taken in a typical day; and a "Step with It!" booklet, which contains walking program guidelines and is endorsed by noted exercise physiologist, personal trainer to Oprah and best-selling author, Bob Greene. The Stepometers will also be available for purchase separately for $2.99, while supplies last. McDonald's new Premium Fiesta Salad is comprised of premium mixed greens topped with warm seasoned beef, cheddar jack cheese and crispy tortilla strips, offered with sour cream and Newman's Own all-natural salsa on the side. "We are thrilled about the introduction of the "Go Active! Happy Meal" for adults and the featured Premium Fiesta Salad," said David Santoro, Co-President of the McDonald's Owner-Operator Association of the Greater Philadelphia Region. "These two new items demonstrate our commitment to menu choice and offering customers a new and fun way to incorporate activity into their daily lives." Locally, McDonald's Restaurants have been enhancing the overall customer dining experience to encourage balanced lifestyles. In April, the restaurants launched the new Fruit 'n Walnut Salad as a test product in the Greater Philadelphia Region. The salad, which features a refreshing bounty of crisp sliced apples, plump red grapes and sweet candied walnuts served with creamy low fat yogurt as a topping or dip, is currently available for $2.99. McDonald's is also introducing new Happy Meal Choices. Young customers and parents will have the option to add-on or substitute their French Fries for Apple Dippers, a serving of fresh apple slices with a low fat caramel dipping sauce. One percent (1%) low fat Milk Jugs (white and chocolate) and apple juice will also be available as a substitution for carbonated soft drinks. Happy Meal Choices will be available in the Greater Philadelphia Region on June 11.
