(Miss.) Sun Herald: House Bill 282 would prohibit restaurants in Mississippi — which has been ranked as the most obese state — from serving food to people who are obese.
"Anybody with any sense knows it's not going to happen, not going to pass," said state Rep. John Read, one of the bill's authors. "With all the attention paid to tobacco problems, this was to shed some light on another major problem. This has been at least getting the dialogue going."
The bill has been decried by groups across the nation, including Florida-based Obesity Action Coalition, which claims it is obesity discrimination.
