Nathan's Famous said its plans to grow in Dubai and throughout the Middle East, where recent Technomic, data shows the public dines out 13 percent more than the global average on a weekly basis. Nathan's leaders said in a news release that the brand is a great fit for the lifestyle in Dubai where the country's Department of Economic Development said new restaurant numbers grew 10% last year alone.

The QSR plans to kick off its growth efforts in the Middle East at the official franchising event for Dubai, the Global Franchise Market in Dubai next week.

"Nathan's Famous is now in 16 countries worldwide, and the Middle East offers us an incredible opportunity to take the flavors of New York to a market that is known for its discerning taste and appreciation of American cuisine," Nathan's Famous Senior Vice President, Restaurants, James Walker, said in the release. "I've had the opportunity to travel around the UAE and surrounding countries, and I understand that potential franchisees look for best-in-class training, support, high profits, and low costs, all of which our 100-year-old global brand can offer."

Nathan's leadership said they believe the brand's versatile restaurant design will work well in Middle Eastern markets since it accommodates everything from food courts to freestanding stores.
