Nathan's serving nickel dogs for Hot Dog Day

July 21, 2020

Nathan's Famous is going retro for National Hot Dog Day — July 22 — offering hot dogs for a price from when the brand first began a century ago — 5 cents, according to a news release.

That price, the brand said, is what the cost of a dog in 1916 when Nathan's Famous was maybe not quite so famous. Things have changed a lot in that time, however, so with many more customers today, Nathan's said it's limiting its nickel hot dog offer to two per order.

The special is set from noon to 5 p.m. at participating Nathan's Famous locations.

The New York-based chain distributes its products in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and 10 other countries. It sold more than 700 million hot dogs last year.
