In addition, McDonald's has partnered with one of the fastest growing online social networking sites for young adults, MySpace.com. When users access the http://www.myspace.com/mcdmonopoly page they will be greeted with the opportunity to remix Kinky's "I Say Hey" song, that's featured in the television commercials and make it their own.
"After a successful MONOPOLY Best Chance Game 2.0, we are excited to once again align these strong, national brands," said Mike Linton, Chief Marketing Officer at Best Buy. "This promotion allows us to innovatively connect with McDonald's young, technology-minded customers who value Best Buy Bucks as a way to access the wide variety of technology and entertainment products, great services and fun experiences available at Best Buy stores."
Hot New Latin Group Spices Up New MONOPOLY Commercials McDonald's new MONOPOLY commercials bring hot tunes with new Latin funk band, Kinky. The five-member group from Monterrey, Mexico combines a unique blend of rock and Latin rhythms that are heating up the charts. Produced by British music maker Chris Allison, Kinky first came on the scene when they emerged as the winners of the 2000 Battle of Bands hosted by the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference in New York City. Since then, the group continues to receive high praise from critics and draw huge crowds for their well-known live performances.
Advertising As part of the National TV support for this exciting promotion, Kinky will be featured in two thirty second television spots created by agency DDB Chicago. In the first spot that kicks off the promotion, staying at home has never been more entertaining. Kinky is on stage at a concert and realizes that the audience is empty because everyone is at home playing and winning cool prizes from McDonald's. After the band gives up on their gig, they show up to a house party full of people who have been playing and winning with McDonald's and MONOPOLY.
The second television spot picks up from the first with Kinky jumping into an impromptu jam session at the party. The host of the party is taking a break from the festivities to fill-up on another McDonald's favorite, the Premium Chicken Club sandwich. We see the host's girlfriend peeling a game piece and on cue she shuts down the entire party to announce that they are out of there. The host is now enjoying the party pool side listening to the band perform at their own private concert.
In its first year, 1935, the MONOPOLY game was the best-selling game in America. Since 1935, more than 250 million Monopoly games have been sold and it continues to be the best-selling board game in the world. Monopoly is sold in 80 countries and produced in 26 languages. An estimated 750 million players from around the globe have enjoyed the game since its creation.
