New Zealand — N.Z. McDonald's workers carried out a symbolic strike Feb. 12, according to the organization SuperSizeMyPay.com. A news release said 100 workers protested low wages and demanded a minimum wage of $12 an hour for all fast-food workers.

On the organization's Web site, SuperSizeMyPay.com demands fast-food workers and New Zealanders take action, encouraging viewers to write New Zealand QSRs. The organization's recommended e-mail's first paragraph:
"The government has said it wants to raise the minimum wage to $12.00 per hour by the end of 2008 if 'economic conditions permit.' I believe that 2008 is too late for low paid and minimum wage workers — we are already in the midst of a low wage crisis despite recent growth in the economy and record corporate profits."
