Hot brewed coffee is the most consumed beverage in America after tap water, according to Datassential's latest report, the MenuTrends Keynote on Non-Alcoholic Beverages.
More than 40 percent of American adults drink brewed coffee on any given day, surpassing bottled water, juice and soda drinks daily.
Roughly one-quarter of American adults drink iced tea while less than one in five drink hot tea. Tea menu penetration is currently high, according to Datassential, and QSRs in particular are experiencing growth in the number of teas they offer.
The MenuTrends Keynote on Non-Alcoholic Beverages details what consumers are ordering, what beverages they are interested in trying, and how that compares to beverages operators are placing on menus. Datassential collected data from more than 1,000 consumers to gather insight on a wide range of beverage options, flavors, trends and ingredients, uncovering preferences and motivations with direct implications for both foodservice and retail segments.
The report combines this insight operator data on menu items, purchase formats and brand importance. Leveraging its trend-tracking MenuTrends database, the study explores topics and categories designed to help understand the complete beverage landscape both away from home and at home and includes analysis of consumers' behavior, perceptions, motivations and preferences.
