NY-area McDonald's restaurants celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

September 29, 2014

McDonald's restaurants in the New York Tri-State Area are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by recognizing baseball legend Mariano Rivera as part of the McDonald's "Celebrando Nuestras Leyendas" (Celebrating our Legends) program.

According to a news release, the program, now in its third edition, pays tribute to iconic Hispanic figures who have influenced American pop culture. Rivera was a five-time World Series winner as a member of the New York Yankees.

"With McDonald's 'Celebrando Nuestras Leyendas,' we honor the cultural heritage and diversity of our guests while recognizing the contributions of Hispanics whose influence transcends beyond their own community. Mr. Rivera's exemplary trajectory on and off the field makes him a legend. We are proud to honor his legacy," said Tony Scari, franchisee and spokesperson for the New York Metro owners/operators.

As part of McDonald's "Celebrando Nuestras Leyendas" local McDonald's owners in the New York Tri-State Area will make a donation to the Refuge of Hope Church, Rivera's charity of choice.
