Online voting open for 'Voice of McDonald's'
November 28, 2007
OAK BROOK, Ill. — People from around the world can vote online for finalists for the second Voice of McDonald's singing competition via the company's Web site until Dec. 10, 2007.
More than 3,600 McDonald's crew and managers from 53 countries participated in the first round of competition, and the top 35 contestants were selected as semi-finalists. Finalists will compete for a chance to win the $25,000 grand prize and be named the next Voice of McDonald's.
"This program is a fun way to honor the extraordinarily talented people in our system and let their voices be heard," said Rich Floersch, executive vice president and chief human resources officer, McDonald's Corp. "McDonald's has always been proud of the opportunities we offer our employees, and Voice of McDonald's is just one example of how we inspire that same pride in our crew and managers."
Voice of McDonald's is a worldwide contest to discover, recognize and reward the most talented singers from among the more than 1.6 million crew and managers working in McDonald's restaurants, according to a news release. Semi-finalists participated in the first round of judging competition, which took place in October 2007. The first-round performances were reviewed by a panel of judges with expertise in the music/talent industries and were judged in three areas: singing ability (60 percent), creativity (20 percent) and on-camera/stage presence (20 percent).
The top 10 after online voting will become global finalists and each will win a trip with a guest to McDonald's 2008 Worldwide Convention on April 14-17 in Orlando, Fla., to compete for top honors.
