The gig worker staffing app Instawork said today it has partnered with web-based employee scheduling software provider StaffMate Online to help restaurants deal with their staffing needs, especially as they relate to catering by helping brands fill empty shifts through StaffMate's scheduling tool with on-call restaurant workers that use Instawork, according to a news release.

Instawork now operates in 13 markets to connect restaurants with qualified workers on demand through gig postings which the company said are typically filled 97% of the time, often in less than a day.

"We are excited to announce our partnership with StaffMate," said Instawork CEO Sumir Meghani in the release. "We believe this partnership will help StaffMate customers save time, reduce scheduling challenges, and will unlock access to the thousands of professionals on Instawork who are seeking job opportunities, ultimately helping us support even more businesses across the U.S."

The companies said the partnership allows brands to not only fill shifts, but see the status of their Instawork shifts in Staffmate and get an integrated look at what shifts brands' in-house staff work and which are filled by Instawork gig jobbers.

The full integration of the two platforms will be complete in Spring 2020.
