The Courier-Journal (Louisville, Ky.): PETA is ending its boycott of Canada's nearly 750 KFC locations after the country's largest KFC franchisee, Priszm Income Fund, which owns 485 KFC locations in Canada, has agreed to support the new chicken-slaughter method of gassing chickens.
Canadian KFC restaurants will now buy poultry from suppliers who use gas chambers rather than an electric shock before killing the birds.KFC owner Yum! Brands Inc. said it has no immediate plans for changes at the company's 5,400 U.S. chicken restaurants.
