The Latin chicken brand, Pollo Campero, is adding empanadas to its menu, including a chicken chipotle and dulce de leche take on the stuffed bread pockets, according to a news release.
"Empanadas have long been a key menu item and an important part of Campero's unique Latin experience," said Federico Valiente, national brand manager for Pollo Campero International. "They are the perfect handheld meal option and we are thrilled to give our guests exciting and unique flavors when they're on the go."
The chicken chipotle empanada is stuffed with shredded chicken, an adobo-and-chipotle-pepper cream sauce, as well as cilantro and roasted peppers. The dulce de leche empanada is a dessert pocket, filled with cheesecake ganache and traditional creamy dulce de leche.
To introduce diners to the new options, Pollo Campero has an LTO that includes either three empanadas, a cup of tortilla soup or side, and a drink or two pieces of fried or grilled chicken, one empanada, a cup of tortilla soup or side and a drink. That $6.99 single meal offer, is accompanied by a $23.99 family meal option with eight pieces of fried or grilled chicken, four empanadas and two sides.
"We know our guests are always looking for flavor, but they want convenience as well—that is especially true during the busy holiday season," said Valiente. "Empanadas are the ideal solution for those searching for a lot of flavor in anything from a quick meal on the go, to a big family gathering."
