Popcorn snack concept hopes to pop up nationwide

November 7, 2013

Poppin' Kettle Natural Popcorn has made its debut at the Westfield Meriden Mall in Connecticut, and Franchisee Jeff O'Loughlin and Franchisor Chris Gregoris expect the concept to become a national chain.

"Our mission is to make the most natural and delicious popcorn on the planet. We have our own facilities, equipped with state-of-the art kettles that are filled and hand scooped by popcorn lovers so our popcorn is always made fresh with love and passion," Gregoris said in a news release.

Poppin' Kettle makes about 30 popcorn varieties, and the brand's kiosk model has space for up to eight at any given time. O'Loughlin has been rotating "Flavors of the Day" to gauge demand. To date, top sellers include white cheddar, kettle corn, movie theater classic, nacho cheese and caramel corn. Orders can also be customized by adding salt or fresh butter from dispensers. The kiosks also offer caramel and candy corn for sale.

Options are $3.50 for regular size or $5 for large. There are also 1-gallon or 3.5-gallon tins available.

Poppin' Kettle is seeking new franchisees across the U.S. for its kiosks. More information is available at poppinkettle.com.
