Popeyes, Cinnabon purchasing co-op adds redistribution partner

December 8, 2009

Supply-chain cooperative Supply Management Services Inc. (SMS) is partnering with Consolidated Distribution Corp. LLC (CDC), the leading quick-service and casual-dining supply chain redistribution company in America, to improve its services. CDC will serve as strategic foodservice redistribution partner for SMS, a non-profit supply-chain co-op representing quick-service restaurant chains Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Cinnabon.

The partnership will allow SMS to leverage the benefits of redistribution from CDC as part of its strategy to increase profits at the store level by reducing costs throughout its supply chain.

"CDC's model allows our company to optimize LTL (less-than-truckload), difficult, and time-sensitive product shipments from our suppliers to regional U.S. distributors, saving nearly $1 million each year," said Daryl Still, president of SMS. "CDC offers us peace of mind that each of our brands will receive redistribution items at each distribution center, when needed, at the lowest landed cost possible."

CDC is the largest QSR and casual-dining restaurant redistributor in the industry, providing supply chain management solutions for the top franchisors and the most respected dry food, frozen food and packaging/janitorial/safety supply manufacturers in the United States. CDC manages 1,100 different SKUs from 300 suppliers to nearly 170 distribution centers per year.

"The inclusion of redistribution within the foodservice supply chain is a successful business strategy for our clients, leading to steady and consistent demand for our services within the restaurant chain industry," said Scott Pearson, president of CDC.
