Popeyes comes up with spice box-inspired chicken LTO

December 2, 2014

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has introduced its new Spicebox Chicken, inspired by the spice boxes used in many kitchens in Louisiana. To create the new boneless chicken offering, Popeyes used its own spice box to bring together 12 flavors and seasonings in a Cajun blackening spice blend.

The thick-cut chicken strips are marinated in seasonings, fried and then tossed in the 12-spice blend, according to a news release. They are served with Cajun fries, a buttermilk biscuit and blackened ranch dipping sauce for $3.99 through Dec. 24.

"Everything we do at Popeyes echoes our Louisiana roots, so we opened our own spice box and created a new dish that is a feast for all the senses," CMO Hector A. Munoz said in the release. "With flavor you can smell, see and most importantly, crave, Spicebox Chicken is the latest in a long line of culinary classics that keep Popeyes guests coming back for more."

Spicebox Chicken is served in new specialty packaging that also gives a nod to the brand's Louisiana heritage, sliding open like a traditional spice box.
