Popeyes franchisee to open 50 units in 1 year

Restaurant Brands International and Jubilant FoodWorks plan to open 50 Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen units in a year in India, according to a CNBC 18 report.
"We are ready to expand and I think that's kind of the big announcement and we are super excited about the journey," Sameer Khetarpal, CEO of franchisee Jubilant FoodWorks, told the news outlet.
The company hopes to eventually have 250 stores. There are 13 located in India now in Bengaluru and Chennai.
"The market is huge. The QSR (quick service restaurant) industry as a whole is poised to grow by 9-10%. My estimate is that chicken as the space will grow faster than that," Khetarpal said.
RBI officials hope India will be a market leader for the brand.
"That's why I made it kind of my first international trip," Joshua Kobza, CEO of Restaurant Brands International, told the news outlet.
