Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and Tabasco brand have announced the introduction of the new Tabasco Spiced Pepper Barrel Tenders as a limited-time offer. Three all-white meat chicken breast strips, marinated in a special blend of Tabasco spice are hand-battered and breaded in a Southern-style crispy coating, then fried. Served on a bed of Cajun Fries, with a Buttermilk Biscuit and Smok'n Pepper Ranch Dipping Sauce, Tabasco Spiced Pepper Barrel Tenders are available at participating Popeyes for a limited time for $4.99, according to a company press release from Popeyes.

"The inspiration for our latest creation comes from the 140-year-long tradition of making TABASCO Sauce with peppers aged to perfection,” said Hector A. Muñoz, Popeyes chief marketing officer, United States. "In true Louisiana-style, the process of making TABASCO Sauce is meticulous and slow, designed to capture the flavor of the peppers in a sauce that is known the world over. Now, we are marinating the Handcrafted Tenders that our guests already crave in TABASCO spices to deliver a new offer infused with the tastes and traditions of Louisiana cooking. We can't wait for guests to come in and try it.”

The Tabasco production process begins by harvesting the pepper. The peppers are placed in white-oak barrels, sealed and covered with salt cap from Avery Island, Louisiana, where red peppers used in Tabasco Sauce are grown, according to a company press release from Popeyes. The barrels are set in the aging warehouse for three years. The final result of the aging process becomes the key ingredient for Popeyes Tabasco Spiced Pepper Barrel Tender.
