Popeyes has signed an exclusive master franchise and development agreement with Gulf First Fast Food Company to grow the brand in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a news release said.

The brand did not disclose the number of restaurants it expects to open under the agreement nor the timeframe, and Popeyes said the agreement is part of its global growth plan. With over 3,400 locations in more than 25 countries, the Saudi agreement expands on recent similar partnerships to grow the chain in China, India, Mexico, the Philippines, Spain, Switzerland, Sri Lanka and the U.K.

"We are thrilled to announce the development agreement with Gulf First to increase the pace of growth for the Popeyes brand in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of our broader global expansion strategy," David Shear, international president of Popeyes parent company, Restaurant Brands International Inc., said in the release. "Guests all over the world love our famous chicken and with its extensive experience in the market, Gulf First will accelerate our ability to reach guests across the Kingdom."

RBI also includes Tim Hortons and Burger King among its 27,000 restaurants worldwide.
