Last week, Popeyes opened a new restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, six months after the company exited the country, citing losses.
According to Thanhnien News, the new Popeyes unit is franchised by Vietnam Food and Beverage Service Ltd., its exclusive operator in that country. Seven restaurants are expected to open this year.
Popeyes made its debut in Vietnam in 2010, where two restaurants operated for two years before the brand made its exit.
Other QSRs have eyed the Vietnamese market for expansion, including Burger King, McDonald’s, Auntie Anne's and Baskin-Robbins.
