After launching Popeyes locations in Spain and Switzerland, Popeyes is taking its popular chicken sandwich and other menu items to the United Kingdom, according to CNN Business, which reported the news in an interview with Popeyes Co-Founder Elias Diaz Sese this week.
Sese said Popeyes expects to open 350 restaurants in the U.K. over the next 10 years, though it would not say exactly when or where in the country it would open first.
"We are looking to many locations at this particular moment," Sese told CNN.
The brand has begun expanding globally, with recent openings in China and Sri Lanka. In the U.K., it faces competition from brand's like the South African flame-grilled QSR, Nando's, as well as thousands of independently owned fried chicken shops.
Popeyes said its entry into the U.K. is part of a joint venture between Restaurant Brands International, Sese and Austrian family investment firm, Ring International Holdings.
