Here's the scene: You've lived in the U.K. all your life. You're a loyal subject of the Crown. And you love KFC, where you regularly grab a bite on your lunch break.

Then, this week as you're sitting at a stool, enjoying your meal and just looking out the window of a London KFC outlet, you sense you're being watched. That's when you realize, right on the other side of the window from you, there's Prince William, just staring in at your food.

That was the prank KFC caught Prince William pulling this week in London, according to an email from the brand relaying the details when Prince William and Kate Middleton were enroute to an event there. KFC U.K., tweeted that the Prince got a bit distracted walking past one of their restaurants there.

The man in line to be king of England one day peered through the shop window and apparently thought to himself, "Oh, I just can't wait to be wing," which of course was tweeted by KFC.

Prince William played along goodheartedly, waving to customers and giving lots of photo ops. A second tweet also played on the fried chicken parts that were the center of attraction, saying simply, "I'm sad I didn't call him His Royal Thighness in the main tweet tbh."
