Prolific Hispanic franchisee hopes to open BK Whopper Bar at Houston airport

Guillermo Perales, CEO of Sun Holdings LLC, a is planning on bringing Krispy Kreme back to Houston, as well as several other brands to the Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

According to Houston Business First, Sun Holdings LLC owns and operates 440 restaurants in Florida and Texas, including CiCi's Pizza, Golden Corral and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in Houston. Perales is the largest Hispanic restaurant franchisee in the US.

Sun Holdings has sent an RFP to Houston's airport with the hopes of opening a BK Whopper Bar and a Mexican restaurant as part of Terminal D's $1.5 billion remodeling initiative. Sun Holdings has operated a Popeyes unit in the airport for seven years.

Earlier this month, Perales told the publication that he also plans to expand Krispy Kreme in the Houston market. The doughnut chain left the city in 2006.
