Proposal to ban fast food sparks hefty debate in South Africa

The (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) Herald: There was a mixed reaction to the call by a speaker at the recent SA Gastroenterology Society obesity congress for the regulation and screening of adverts for high-fat fast foods.
Dr. Tessa van der Merwe's view that food industry advertising coaxes people into eating high-fat, high-energy fast foods was largely brushed off by some consumers at quick-service restaurants around Nelson Mandela Bay. But others echoed her sentiments.
