QSR Edo Japan, is continuing its Canadian expansion by opening a store in Fort Richmond Plaza in Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada, with a second Winnipeg store set to open this spring in Kenaston Crossing, a news release said.

The 41-year-old Canadian-born franchise is known for teppanyaki-style meals inspired by the cuisine of Japan and recently launched in eastern Canada with plans to grow nationally.

"Edo has experienced consistent success in Canada's diverse markets, including recent openings in Ontario in 2019," Edo Japan President and CEO David Minnett said in the release. "We look forward to maintaining this momentum in Manitoba with our cross-Canada expansion."

The Pirani Group is the franchisee of both new central Canada streetfront locations, and Raheem Pirani will oversee operations at all three Edo Winnipeg locations, including one that opened nearly two years ago in CF Polo Park.

"There is a lot of opportunity for growth in the Winnipeg market and I am excited to help further build the brand in Canada and offer residents the fresh, high-quality food Edo prides itself on," Pirani said in the release.

Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Edo Japan serves includes more than 140 locations across Canada.
