Quiznos names head of operations

November 15, 2010

Former franchisee Michael Roper has been named chief operating officer of Quiznos worldwide. Roper has worked with the Quiznos brand for almost 12 years, including six years as a franchise owner.

He earned Quiznos Franchise Owner of the Year in 2002, behind the success of four high-volume units in the Chicago area. Most recently, Roper served as executive vice president of operations for the brand.

On the franchise level, Roper implemented several programs to improve the customer dining experience, including the "Fast, Fresh, Hot and Clean" project in 2009. The project entailed customer-focused changes, which helped lift the number of Quiznos franchises operating at desired levels, from 20 percent to 90 percent in 10 months.

"With his comprehensive background in both in-store and Quiznos-wide operations, Michael brings a wealth of Quiznos experience and brand knowledge to the role of COO," said Greg MacDonald, CEO of Quiznos. "He has a deep understanding of what it takes to run a successful restaurant and how to increase sales at a grassroots level."

Roper will work closely with MacDonald, who was named CEO in October, to drive operational improvements.

Replacing Roper as EVP of operations is Mark Rogers, who also has 12 years of experience working with Quiznos as a franchise owner and area director. He was named vice president of operations earlier this year, and in his new capacity, will continue directing the company's field support team.

In addition, Rogers will oversee compliance and Quiznos University, the chain's training and certification program for managers and franchisees.
