May 15, 2019

Restaurant Brands International Inc. told attendees at its investor day Tuesday that it will grow its Burger King, Tim Hortons and Popeyes brands to more than 40,000 units over the next eight to 10 years, making it one of the world's biggest restaurant companies. It has 26,000 restaurants, according to a company press release.

RBI CEO Jose Cil said the brands were in a good spot to take advangage of the 5% annual growth in the global burger sector and 6% annual growth in coffee and chicken markets worldwide. The company has already more than doubled its units since 2010, from approximately 12,000 to nearly 26,000 today, while system-wide sales have grown from approximately $15 billion to more than $32 billion in the same time period.

"RBI is fundamentally a growth company, with three amazing, iconic brands that we believe have a very long runway for growth — both at home and around the world," Cil said in the release. "We have a proven history of generating very strong returns for our shareholders and today we are excited to share more insight than we ever have before to support our belief that all three brands have substantial growth ahead."
