The newly renamed company taking the place of McDonald's in Russia said it sold a record amount of burgers on its opening day, according to a Reuters report.
Vkusno & tochka (which translates to "Tasty and that's it") says it sold nearly 120,000 burgers upon reopening June 12 and June 13. Alexander Govor bought out the rights to 700 of the 800 existing McDonald's, renamed the company and reopened with a new menu.
Oleg Paroev, chief executive of the newly formed company, said the brand hopes to expand in Russia but is currently facing supply chain issues and competing against the nearly 100 remaining McDonald's franchisees in Russia who have yet to chain names or ingredients.
"On the first day we sold almost 120,000 burgers," Paroev told Reuters. "We have never seen such daily turnover in the whole time McDonald's has worked in Russia."
