Beautiful Brands International (BBI) is celebrating the second anniversary of Rex's Chicken this week at its current location in Tulsa, Okla. The anniversary, which marks the resurgence of the once popular local brand, includes the announcement of a 9-percent increase in same-store sales growth for Rex's, as well as an uptick in recurring revenue from 2011.
"We're so excited to be experiencing this incredible success and the opportunity to expand with new development deals for Rex's worldwide," said David Rutkauskas, Beautiful Brands founder, president and CEO.
BBI has invested in Rex's operational capabilities with new carry-out and drive-thru services and plans to streamline the footprint of its franchise model to 1,200 square feet. To date, the Rex's Chicken franchise has opened a total of four stores around the world. Tulsa and Oklahoma City Metro areas are currently a focus for franchise expansion of the brand. Internationally, Rex's Chicken has locations open or under construction in UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Egypt.
"Because of Rex's Chicken enormous national appeal and franchising potential, (we) have been meeting with a number of investment companies in California and New York City, both looking to infuse capital into the brand in order to roll-out dramatic national expansion from coast to coast," Rutkauskas said. "This infusion of cash will further give Rex's Chicken an edge over any competing quick-service or fast casual concepts."
Founded in 1951, Beautiful Brands re-established the Rex's Chicken brand in 2008 and introduced it to new regional and global markets.
