Rita's Italian Ice celebrates Iowa debut

Rita's Italian Ice has opened its 50th location of the year, and its first in the state of Iowa.  The new location is at Hawthorne Plaza, 9250 University Avenue, West Des Moines. 

To celebrate the grand opening, the location will offer complimentary Italian Ice on Sept. 26. Also, the first 50 guests in line will receive free Rita's for a year.

Rita's West Des Moines is owned and operated by franchisees and area residents, Darrell Cook and Anne Winslow-Cook, who plan to open several stores in the market. 

"Rita's is proud to open our 50th new store this year and our first store in the state of Iowa," CDO Eric Taylor said in a news release.  “The brand has achieved tremendous growth over the past year and we have no plans of slowing down.”
