Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard has announced a multi-unit franchise agreement to bring five locations to Austin, Texas. The first location is expected to open later this year, according to a press release.

Salvator Raccuglia, a young entrepreneur originally from Redding, Pennsylvania, will spearhead the expansion. Raccuglia grew up with a Rita's nearby and has experience in the food service industry, previously working at his family's pizza shop and starting a wholesale clothing business.

"I'm excited to share Rita's with the Austin community," Raccuglia said in the release. "With its warm weather and growing population, Austin is a perfect fit for Rita's."

The agreement strengthens Rita's presence in Texas and follows the company's ongoing search for franchise partners.

"We're thrilled to welcome Sal to the Rita's family," Linda Chadwick, CEO, said in the release. "His passion for the brand and the Austin community makes him a great fit."

Rita's offers Italian ice, gelati, concretes, milkshakes and frozen custard. The Italian ice is made fresh daily with over 75 flavors in rotation.

Rita's is seeking additional franchisees throughout Texas. The brand is looking for hands-on entrepreneurs passionate about Rita's and motivated for growth.
