Rita’s Italian Ice plans Nebraska entry

Rita’s Italian Ice has awarded a franchise and area development deal for Nebraska to Nebraska Ice LLC. With plans for more than 14 stores within Nebraska, including Lincoln, Omaha and surrounding areas, the expansion increases Rita’s national footprint to 27 states. The first store will open in Lincoln in July 2015.

"We're thrilled to introduce Rita's Italian Ice to our friends, family and community in Nebraska," said Mike Malone, co-owner of Nebraska Ice, in a news release. "After first trying Rita's in 2014 in Wichita, Kansas, my wife and I knew that it was the perfect fit for us."

The husband-and-wife team, Mike and Elynn Malone, co-owners of Nebraska Ice, are long-time residents of Nebraska having met at the University of Nebraska more than 30 years ago.
