Rita's Italian Ice signs franchise agreements for Alabama

Rita's Italian Ice has awarded franchise and area development agreements for the state of Alabama to Doug Portrey and Rob Tarr.

According to a news release, Portrey and Tarr, both veterans, grew up with Rita's while vacationing in Gulf Shores, Ala. Their plans call for two new Rita's locations to open this year, and more stores to open within the next five years.

The first Rita's, in Foley, will offer complimentary Regular Rita's Ice during a grand opening celebration May 8.
