Sale of 25 Jack in the Box c-stores complete
September 2, 2009
Corpus Christi, Texas-based convenience store operator Susser Holdings Corp. has announced that it has completed the purchase of 25 Quick Stuff c-stores from Jack in the Box Inc. The all-cash purchase, the terms of which were not disclosed, includes leaseholds for 24 stores and the real estate underlying one property, 23 of which are located in Texas and two in Louisiana.
Each location is co-branded with a Jack in the Box restaurant, all of which will be retained by the burger chain.
Susser Holdings operates more than 520 convenience stores in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma under the Stripes and Town & Country banners, 300 of which offer restaurant service, primarily under the proprietary Laredo Taco Co. and Country Cookin' brands. The company also supplies branded motor fuel to approximately 375 independent dealers through its wholesale fuel division.
Susser will rebrand some of the former Quick Stuff c-stores to its proprietary Stripes brand, with most operated by independent dealers. Sixteen of the 21 stores have already been converted to the dealer operation, including the one fee property.
