Sarku Japan to expand Teriyaki & Sushi Express to Colombia

June 17, 2010

Sarku Japan, known for its mall-court based Japanese quick-service restaurants, continues to expand globally with a major franchise deal in South America. Sarku Japan and Frisby Corp. have entered into a multi-year master license agreement to open 20 Sarku Japan Teriyaki and Sushi Express stand-alone restaurants in Colombia over the next 10 years.

"We are pleased to enter this joint venture with Sarku Japan, as they are a solid brand, offering huge potential for growth," said Frisby Corp. owner Alfredo Hoyos Mazuera in a news release. "We look forward to a long standing and mutually beneficial relationship."

Sarku Japan forecasts 1,000 new units to open in the United States and abroad over the next 10 years and is now accepting applications for franchises from individual applications, as well as area developers.

This agreement follows an earlier announcement that the company had signed a multiunit agreement in Vietnam for 10 to 12 stores over the next three years.
