S.C. man gets life in slayings of Wendy's co-workers

The State (Columbia, S.C.): A former Wendy's employee has been convicted of murdering his manager and a co-worker at a Wendy's in Columbia, S.C., Sept. 3. John Henry Portee Jr. was angry when ordered to work at the Wendy's drive-thru and threatened to kill the assistant manager. The assistant manager contacted the general manager, and the dispute was thought to have been resolved. A week later, the assistant manager and an employee were found shot in the head in a back office, and $1,600 was taken from the restaurant.
