Local McDonald's restaurants raised $25,674.75 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana (RMHCK) during February and March through sales of the Shamrock Shake and OREO Shamrock McFlurry, according to a press release.

Customers purchased more than 102,000 of the seasonal treats, with McDonald's owner/operators in the Louisville, Kentucky area donating 25 cents from each sale to RMHCK.

"RMHC is grateful for the funds that McDonald's customers continue to contribute from Shamrock Shake sales," Hal Hedley, RMHCK CEO, said in the release. "The McDonald's owner operators in Kentucky repeatedly show their dedication to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Their efforts during the months of February and March have made significant positive impacts on the lives of many children and their families, while raising awareness for RMHC."

RMHCK provides care, comfort and support to families with sick children receiving medical treatment in Louisville. This includes the Ronald McDonald Houses, which offer families a place to stay near their child's hospital.

"The persistent McDonald's customer base makes the donations made to RHMC possible," Bru Peter, Louisville area McDonald's owner/operator, said in the release. "Thanks to the support from our owner/operators as well as our customers, considerable support to the families and sick children of RMHC is consistently being made. The Shamrock Shake donations, as well as the Round-Up program have helped children find the special treatment they need, while ensuring comfort for their families."

McDonald's customers can support RMHCK year-round through the Round-Up for RMHC program. When placing an order, diners are asked if they'd like to round up their total to contribute to RMHC.
