Smalls Sliders signs 2nd Texas deal

Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based Smalls Sliders is adding seven units in Texas, marking the state's second agreement. Preston Cunningham and David Higgins, the duo behind the most recent Texas deal, met while developing several units for another restaurant brand in the Houston area, ultimately pushing them to join forces in their venture with Smalls Sliders. Drawn to the brand for its niche model and cult following, Cunningham and Higgins are eager to begin the development process for their locations.

"We were particularly interested in the unique design and construction of each Smalls Sliders location," Higgins said in a company press release. "Aside from that, we also loved the idea of a concept that is based in simplicity. A small menu, small buildout and Cans that are dropped on-site — all of it culminates into a brand that is unlike anything out there. On top of this, we've had experience with other brands in the past and the innovation and commitment to technology is truly a breath of fresh air. Smalls Sliders is all about being a frontrunner in the QSR industry, and we're excited to become a part of this team and really take on that mentality."

The pair aims to have its first location open by mid-to-late 2024, with the remaining six opening through the years that follow in territories including Woodlands, Conroe, Huntsville and Bryan College Station.

Smalls Sliders was the brainchild of founder Brandon Landry, with former pro football NFL quarterback Drew Brees joining him as an initial investor, and is backed by industry veterans at 10 Point Capital.
